LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Catholic Action Center, thanks to a $140,000 investment, is helping those experiencing homelessness.

(WKYT) - Debby has been wreaking havoc across the southeast, making landfall as a hurricane in Florida early Monday morning and then again as a tropical storm in South Carolina early Thursday.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington’s Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) provides a base camp location for utility workers. Right now, they are in Louisiana to support workers on the front lines following Hurricane Francine.

Jerry Lundergan presented today’s program. Jerry shared the roots of Emergency Disaster Services and it’s history in Maysville.

Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) is an 8A, majority women-owned company that provides full turnkey, basecamp solutions on the frontlines of the response to natural or man-made disasters.

A clean bathroom, a place to shower and a place to wash clothes. This is what some in Lexington’s homeless population have been pleading for for some time.

We are the first response team on the ground within 24 hours of a crisis, providing food and accommodation to affected citizens and relief teams. Our experienced team has participated in response programs ranging from human-made disasters to naturally occurring calamities and skillfully addressed people’s emergency needs,” states Matt Daley, director of logistics and communications.

Daley is from Knott County, he said Fayette County Schools asked him if EDS could drop off desks, tables and chairs at the school.

Daley is with Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) which is headquartered in Lexington. He recently returned after spending days in Mayfield where EDS crews set up base camps for utility workers.

Linemen with EDS will immediately get to work to provide food, supplies and help to those impacted.

Emergency Disaster Services is a company in Lexington that helps during the worst of events.

There are six counties that Emergency Disaster Services are looking to get to Friday and they’re going to be dropping off two pallets of water at each location.

Daley and his team are building whole cities in 24 hours.

(LEX 18) — For the Kentuckians who rush to disaster areas like the members of Emergency Disaster Services out of Lexington, the Hurricane Ian response has been a long assignment.

Before Hurricane Idalia reached land, Kentucky utility workers were on their way to help restore power. Joe Arnold is the spokesman for Kentucky Electric Cooperatives, the association formed by Kentucky’s 26 electrical co-ops.
